Abstract:
The twenty-first century has given rise to a technological revolution where advanced mobile devices and intelligent applications have not only transformed daily life but also redefined the landscape of education. Mobile phone technology has penetrated deep into homes, communities, and schools, creating new possibilities for teaching and learning as well as linking education to broader processes of commercialization. Despite this, many educational institutions still rely on traditional integration models, which do not fully reflect the dynamic role of mobile technology. This paper presents a literature-based review and develops a conceptual framework aimed at analyzing the interrelationship between mobile phone technology and the commercialization of education. The findings from various studies show that mobile phones as multi-functional devices encourage communication, collaboration and personal learning and bring about a paradigm shift in educational practices. At the same time, their widespread use also promotes a market-oriented approach to education, raising important questions of equity, access and quality. The study concludes that mobile phone technology plays a dual role -on the one hand, it creates an innovative learning environment and on the other hand, it accelerates the commercialization of education. It is, therefore, necessary to have a critical dialogue on their balance so that the integration of mobile technology ensures effective learning as well as equitable and just educational development.
